Meet Your Instructor
Dr. Kathleen Hall both meditation practitioner and experienced instructor to individuals and classes, has been meditating regularly for over 20 years.
Dr. Hall began her formal study over two decades ago, training with a Taoist teacher for many years. She became a Benedictine Oblate at Sacred Heart Monastery and studied and practiced the Christian Centering prayer, a Christian name for meditation, under the guidance of Dr. Thomas Keating, the monastic leader of Centering Prayer. Dr. Hall has been privileged to be a student of the illustrious Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh, along with attending classes with His Holiness The Dalai Lama.

What is Meditation?
Meditation is simply focusing upon something, whether it’s an object, mental image, your breath, or even a sound to bring your thoughts to the present moment. By periodically letting go of the mental “to do” list in our heads, we reduce stress, relax, and experience a positive physical changes in our bodies.
Although meditation is rooted in many religious and spiritual traditions, its stress relieving benefits are non-exclusive and can be practiced by anyone regardless of their religion, culture, age or gender.
Why Meditate?

According to researchers at Harvard, Yale and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, meditation actually increases the size of your brain and alters the brain in areas that deal with attention and processing.
Studies by Robert H. Schneider, M.D., Maharishi University Institute for Natural Medicine and Prevention found a 30% decrease in the rate of deaths due to heart disease and stroke in patients who practiced meditation regularly.
Dr. Richard Davidson, Ph.D. of the University of Wisconsin and his colleagues discovered individuals who underwent meditation training produced more antibodies to a flu vaccine and showed signs of increased electrical activity in areas of the brain related to positive emotions than the individuals who did not meditate.

When Should I Meditate?
